Dammit man, this bike business is very expensive.
Not as expensive as that pesky car business, but really, we should be eligible for government grants or something.

We aren't going to get pensions, we'll have to pay for our own elderly care, so it's important we keep fit, so should be funded for that! Trainers of prescription!!

I agree, by keeping fit would reduce the strain on the NHS so our kit should be funded :-)
I really really need a new bike.

I have done something to my gear cable, however, after much moaning at a bloke about my disasterous repair attempts, he as said 'Oh just bring it round at the weekend'

Cycle to Work is definitely worth looking at, for those who have a scheme available - the payments come out of pre-tax salary (so you save there), and it effectively works out as an interest-free loan over 12 months (or whatever the period is), so you can get a decent bike and pay it up over time rather than being limited by how much you have available at the time.

I concur, pay us for being sportist I say! No unreasonable - the government seems to happily pay out to certain work shy sections of society!

I agree, by keeping fit would reduce the strain on the NHS so our kit should be funded :-) I really really need a new bike. I think I've been more of a 'strain' on the NHS since I've been a sportist. When I was younger, I exercised a bit. But lived a lot more. Nothing serious happened. Then I took sportism semi-seriously - running has given me a dodgy left knee (doing an interval run, a 'fast' segment was down a hill and I went down a kerb and my footfall was hard and painful), my extra fitness made me better at rugby and I broke a finger - x-ray/splint/physio time, I then did my other knee at rugby - more x-ray, more physio, more doctors. And my shoulder fell to pieces, so more doctor's/physio. Compared to one minor operation due to non-sportist stuffs. Were I a couch potato/had interests other than sportist ones, I'd have had less spent on me by the NHS.
