Hello fellow Sportists, how are we all on this fine Tuesday?
My running has been very up and down this year with my weekly mileage much lower than last year and my times much slower however I have had two good runs in the last 4 days. Tonight's run of just under 10 miles was the most enjoyable for a very long time, perfect weather conditions, cool with rain. My legs were feeling very sore from a 13 miler a few days ago so didn't really have any expectations from tonight's run but I knew within a few miles it was going to be good, not really in terms of time although I was only 7 mins off my 10 mile PB but in terms of enjoyment and just getting that Forest Gump feeling. I had a bit of a "moment" too, I rememberd when I first started running, there was two guys who were training for the GNR, they were doing a 10 mile run and I remember thinking " Wow I could never do that" I was in such awe of them, tonight it suddenly dawned on me that I'm a runner and I can run 10 miles.....and more! I can honestly say I loved every mile tonight........Roll on the VLM training ;D

Lisa - I love it when that happens. You just get into the flow and it's so peaceful. I have been known to close my eyes and run with them shut at times like that, but not for too long obviously - but it just feels like you could sleep - running is absolutely no effort and feels so natural.....
I also remember listening to people talking about running 10miles plus when I first started and was struggling to do 5 minutes without stopping. It's amazing what the body will do if you let it adapt...

Good running Lisa! - Its strange how it sometimes just happens isn't it, sometimes when you are least expecting it. I have been known to close my eyes and run with them shut at times like that, but not for too long obviously - I do that too! I thought it was just me being weird! ;D

Sounds like some good running - it's great that it only takes a couple of good runs to turn your mood around.

Lisa, I'm in a similar situation. Planning a long run tomorrow of around 13 miles and I hope it goes as well as my last few runs. On Sunday I did a 7 miler and it just felt amazing, like I could go on forever - yes I know it was slow - I didn't even take the garmin because I wanted just to run for pleasure. I'm actually looking forward to VLM training now and a couple of months ago I was contemplating giving up running!
