Here are my goals for 2013
Marathon
I set myself a goal of running a Marathon before I'm 50 (April 2014... I know it's difficult to comprehend that I'm almost approaching middle age but it's true ). This was on the basis that I wanted to be fitter at 50 than I was at 20, but I think I've already achieved that. Whilst I don't doubt that, given the training, I could do this I am concerned about the time commitment required and fitting it into all the other stuff we do as a family. Consequently, this is under negotiation with SWMBO (She who must be obeyed). Further details as they emerge...
Half Marathon
Next week I run my first Half Marathon, it's the longest distance I've ever run so my aim is to complete it. I'm running it with my Wife so the time will be whatever we can egg each other on to do. We've trained for this together so we'll finish it together and the time will be based on the slower of the two of us on the day - which is currently me !!
Once I've got this under my belt I'll decide what sort of improvement I could target. Current thinking is that, one day I'd like to go under 2 hours but I've no idea how realistic this is.
10K
Current PB is 56:58 at Manchester last year. Again, I ran the first half of this with my wife pacing her to a 30 min 5k in the hope she could get under an hour (she just missed it !). This year I aim to go sub-55 at least once and ideally sub-50 towards the end of the year.
5K
Current PB is around 26 something. I would like to get that down to 23 something.
