Tell us you running goals, whether they be short or long term.
I eventually want a 45 min 10k and 4 hour marathon. Especially if I can do that time marathon at the end of an Ironman.

My aims when I started back running in April after a 6yr break were to achieve both a sub 20 5k and a sub 45 10k by the end of the year and hopefully progressing to a sub 40 10k .

How are you progressing Wino? Are you on target? Lunar Lucy, I reckon you'll crack the sub 4 and obliterate the sub 45 as a result of your training for the Iron man. My short term goals are to build up to running 5/6 days a week again. When I'm back to doing that, I'll hopefully aim for a slice off of my marathon pb and get as close to 3hrs as poss (sub 3 would be ultimate). 1/2 marathon I'll aim to get as close to 1:20 as possible (that is a big ask, my pb is 1:26) 10k I'll aim to get closer to 36 mins at some point. and.... I am now a vet so I'll try to pick a race where virtually no-one else turns up so that I can get a top 5 finish. A bit of a dreamer me....:0

I think both targets are out of the window for this year but I know I will get both at some point next year as I had already run 19:45 for which I thought was 5k (measured in car) but when i double checked it with the Garmin it came back as 2.98 and not 3.11 connect.garmin.com/activity/179420928connect.garmin.com/activity/182023583 is as close as I got prior to my Injury but this was only a couple of weeks after I had started back so I know its deffo feasible. Interestingly you own aim of a 36 minute 10k is roughly the same as I managed just before I stopped running back in 2006 36:18 was as quick as I managed. Good luck in achieving your goals

In the short term, I'm hoping to improve on my time from Loch Ness (3:08.49) in the marathon I'm running at the end of November, although that might be a bit of a long shot, given that there's only eight weeks between the two races.
Looking further down the line:
- sub-18 for 5k (currently 18.49) - sub-38 for 10k (currently 39.26) - see how close I can get to 1:20 for a half-marathon (currently 1:26.53) - sub-3 hours for a marathon (currently 3:08.49)
I don't know how realistic it will be to achieve any of these next year, though, as I'll be concentrating more on triathlon than simply improving my running.

I'm in training for my first marathon on 2nd December and the goal is to get round in one piece only. Looking to next year, I want to break 45 minutes for 10k so I think that'll be my focus after my marathon.

After the Great South Run next week, I will probably take it a bit easier until the end of the year. By early November I will have run 1000 miles this year. Come the new year I hope to extend my furthest distance a bit, I've not currently run further than half marathon distance.

My only goal is to run regularly and enjoy it. I also want to do more other stuff like swimming/gym/cycling.
